The Senior Designer is responsible for producing high quality project design deliverables. The ideal candidate can work on all phases of development including Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents. They will function as the Project Manager working to ensure the facilitation of a project’s completion; on-time and on budget.
Responsibilities Include:
Conceptual:
- Consistently brings fresh ideas approaches and concepts to the table
- Knows how to develop plans and ideas that meet design goals
- Has a well-developed eye for scale and balance, designing elements that fit the space for maximum impact
- Can differentiate the needs of different aesthetics and deliver those styles without letting personal preferences impact choices
- Regularly follows trends in Architecture and Interior Design
Construction Documents:
- Can independently take a set of plans and convert to a developed final package
- Dimension construction plans – noted, tagged, with elevation symbols and sections
- Produce finished elevations with millwork, outlets, cabinetry, and specialty finishes
- Produce finished RCP with ceiling materials, treatments and heights clearly called out and dimensioned
- Knowledge of lighting applications, energy requirements, lamping, and light spread
- Aware of finish materials and their required applications and installation requirements
- Proven ability to create comprehensive finish, lighting, door, hardware, appliance, and furnishing schedules
Construction Knowledge:
- Can fluently discuss construction methods and correct uses in interiors
- Has knowledge of installation methods for: ceiling treatments, finish details, railings, painting, wall coverings, flooring installations, stone fabrication, tile patterns and grout details, plaster, stucco, foam, MDF, fiberglass trims, metal work, millwork, doors, windows, cabinetry, paneling, mirrors etc.
- Can monitor site installations and spot problems such as wrongful applications, messy work, and departures from approved plans – ensures team alerted promptly and problem corrected. Tracks through resolution
- Understands architectural and structural needs and when professionals should be consulted to ensure design viability
- Proven ability to layout and specify appropriate fixtures and hardware
- Experience in both renovation and new construction
Furniture, Fixture, and Equipment Specification Requirements:
- In depth knowledge of major manufacturers and their products, fabrication techniques, and finish requirements
- Highly skilled in designing custom lighting, furniture, carpets, fabrics, and wallpapers
- Expert at reviewing shop drawings and samples to ensure drawings and finishes match AHDI specifications, and are delivered on time and within budget
- Expert knowledge of fabrication techniques for drapery, bedding, pillows and knows how to achieve a wide array of designs ranging from contemporary to formal classic
Project Management:
- Understands the need for open and direct communication verbally and in writing
- Understands the need to inform stakeholders of project status and deliverables
- Communicates openly with peers, lending feedback, redlining corrections, reinforcing approved processes and procedures
- Regularly reviews deliverables for accuracy, efficiency, and thoroughness
- Demonstrates an organized, systematic approach to managing a project, keeping task lists updated and complete
- Demonstrates Time Management skills, streamlines processes to increase efficiency
- Participates in strategy meetings to review project tasks, deliverables, deadlines, milestones, and challenges
- Performs high-level tasks and deliverables on multiple projects.
Client Skills:
- Capability to troubleshoot problems and make recommendations to move forward without compromise
- Tracks and communicates changes during construction
- Keeps project files organized and accessible
- Is comfortable as project lead in meetings with Client, Architects, Engineers, and Contractors, lending feedback, troubleshooting, and brainstorming
- Documents all meetings with minutes, copied to all members involved
- Holds suppliers accountable to deliver quality work, following through on quality or fabrication problems through to resolution
Technical Skill Set:
- Advanced skill in CAD, hand drawing, and Revit. SketchUp and Photoshop a plus
- Expert level of skill, works quickly and efficiently with high degree of accuracy

Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience
- Degree from an ARIDO accredited school
- Valid Driver License and reliable vehicle
