French Kiss | Postcard From Paris (A Reconnaissance Mission)
Is there ever a “bad” time to visit Paris? Well, the location, certainly not. Immediately post holiday smack in the middle of the return to working on my current projects? Turns out never a better time! New year, new inspiration and a chance to connect with talented industry professionals and peers. The perfect combination. The recent article in The Wall Street Journal, The Lush New Decor That’s Vanquishing Minimalism by Julie Lasky, sums up my discoveries entirely. French is back. No more clean, minimal lines that have dominated recent years. Decoration is back in all it’s glory. Layers upon layers – one might describe this as a “maximalist approach”! And no one does this better than the french. Antique furnishings. Scenic and detailed hand-painted wallpaper. Clients want their homes curated, collected, well-travelled and in synch with their personal style. I was inundated with colour, detail and ornate attention to detail. Comfort and cozy prevails in every aspect. Here is a snapshot of my favourite moments, not soon to be forgotten and most certainly to find their way into my work.
