Lift Me Up | Wing Motif In Design

Not resigned to earth, the magic of flight has forever inspired humans to reach for the stars. Birds, insects, angels…the wing motif appears throughout history in art, fashion, decoration, symbolism, story and song. From the Greek messenger of the gods Hermes’ winged sandals to Colette Miller’s Global Angel Wings Project featuring street art installations that originated in Los Angeles and are now all over the world, the wing symbolizes strength, speed and the power to soar – though hopefully never too close to the sun…They appear at first fragile and ethereal but with the otherworldly power to propel a whole soul heaven-ward. Here are some wing inspired pieces that have caught my eye recently.
