Larger Than Life | Spotlight on Big Art

I am all about the small details. A trim, a well appointed book shelf, a small bouquet in a guest room, linens that transform a bedroom from lovely to utterly gorgeous. A little goes a long way – but there are some areas where “less is more” just doesn’t fit the bill. Art is an area where bold is beautiful. Huge, over-sized pieces that fill a wall – they make an enormous impact upon entering the room. They add depth and drama like no other element. They tell a lot about the person who lives there. One of my favourite pastimes is wandering galleries or trolling the internet for statement art that will set the tone for a space. Selecting art for a client is one of my favourite elements of a project – often the most time consuming yet also the most satisfying. Finding that work or piecing together a collection that brings it all together is like putting the final piece into a puzzle. By no means is paint the preference here – photography is a fantastic way to develop your aesthetic and take some risks while discovering your personal taste. I love a modern piece in a traditional room – instant cool. Here are some truly incredible works that have found just the right homes.
