A Little Birdy Told Me: Bird Motif in Home Decor

Birds have long been believed to be symbols of freedom and a longing to be united with the divine. The practice of Feng shui considers birds, with their ability to fly, to be closer to the heavens and to serve as messengers from the heavens. They are generally auspicious symbols to surround oneself with in your home.

Different birds symbolize different attributes. The Crane is a symbol for longevity. The Peacock represents luck, love and protection with it’s “100 eyes” on the tail. The Mandarin Duck is considered the love bird and the Rooster a cure for career advancement as well as protector against evil spirits. Birds have always been and continue to be a classic motif in decor, whether it is for these beliefs or simply for the fact that they are beautiful creatures. A twist on popular animal prints, here are a collection of spaces that have woven birds into the decor.
