Shagreen

Considered a luxury material, shagreen is crafted from the skin of sharks and stingrays. It’s smoothly pebbled texture has been used for centuries as both decoration and as a mild abrasive, like sandpaper, in smoothing wood and metal. This signature finish is so sought after that it has also been replicated by in more easily attainable materials by inserting seeds into untanned leather and dying the reverse side to mimic authentic shagreen. Prized since the age of the Pharaohs, it continues to impress with its beauty in furnishings, accent pieces and jewellery.
