Spring In Bloom
One of the simplest and most beautiful ways to freshen up your decor, lift your spirits or let someone know that you are thinking of them, is through flowers. Some of my earliest memories are of my mother preparing to entertain and the care and time she spent making certain that our home was resplendent with beautiful blossoms, and not just in the expected places. Nothing says that your host has thought of every last detail, or “stop and enjoy this space” like a pretty arrangement. It is a wordless but powerful sentiment conveyed from host to guest, or friend to friend, that “I am thinking of you – and I care”.
Flowers to me say, “Pause. Breathe, Reflect”. I love taking my own children on a walk around our cottage to pick wild flower bouquets and decide where we might put them to surprise our guests: on a night stand, in a powder room, on a window sill. They love this game as much as I did as a child.
In and around the city, a few of my “go to” shops, cultivated from my own exploring and the recommendations of friends, include:
390 Dupont St. (South Hill)
1009 Yonge St. (Rosedale)
651 Mt. Pleasant Rd. (Leaside)
2847 Dufferin St. (Midtown)
175 Danforth Ave. (Danforth)
Tiptoe through the tulips and enjoy this beautiful weather!
