Pointing In The Right Direction: Chevron & Herringbone Accents

I love the visual effect of herringbone and chevron pattern in design. While the use of these patterns is most commonly thought of to embellish hardwood floors, there are lots of other ways to add this cool impact to a space. Both patterns make use of diagonal lines but what differentiates the two are that in herringbone, the lines are interlaced, while chevron is defined by the lines meeting in the centre. Go for the bold and test drive this element with some pillows or a window treatment. Pehr Designs in Toronto has some fabulous table accents; check out their Sullivan Collection.

PS. Speaking of things pointing in the right direction, it’s hard to believe that spring break has already come and gone. With cottage season particularly hot on our heels right now, don’t forget to check out the Spring Cottage Life Show March 30 – April 1 at the International Centre.
